Scramjet: Soaring past expectations

The Scramjet is something that you might have heard of if you are interested in aeronautics. It is an engine created by NASA that helps propel an object at unthinkable speeds. In it's first test it hit over Mach 7. This is the fastest any human created object has ever flown. The X-43A, the name of the vehicle with the Scramjet, broke all expectations. In a later test, the Scramjet was able to go over Mach 8, soaring into the record books.

Scramjet has a promising career for the future. With the capability of eventually hitting up to Mach 23, it is in NASA's expectations to use this with new missile, unmanned, space, and other technology for the future. While it is relatively young, it has changed the way that aeronautical engineers look at the future of flight. For more information, check out www.nasa.gov.

Makes me want to go work for Lockheed or NASA even more than I already do. =[
